ITEC Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage is a therapeutic massage, which involves the use of smooth, heated stones within the context of therapeutic massage. The stones used are basalt, a black volcanic rock, which absorbs and retains heat. The use of applied heat alters the temperature of the body and is used for healing purposes. This is a technique of long-standing benefit. The roots of this healing therapy can be sourced back to many ancient cultures including the Chinese, Japanese and Native Americans. Re-introduced in 1993 by Mary Nelson from Tuscon Arizona, today it is quickly becoming one of the most popular services in spas and salons around the world.

The application of warm, or heated basalt stones helps to warm the muscles while allowing the therapist to access deeper tissues more quickly than with conventional massage. This also serves to save their fingers from repetition and pressure oriented injuries. During the course you will also learn how to apply cold/chilled marble or sardonyx stones to create a geothermotherapy effect. By alternating hot and cold stones in a deep flowing massage and combining charka energy work, the result is a natural balancing effect on the physiological and psychological body. Physically the circulation and metabolism are stimulated; mentally and spiritually the individual reaches a state of deep relaxation, which allows the body to rebalance and begin to heal itself.
